                Meet your counsellor

Counselling was a natural career change for me after 35 years in the hospitality sector. I've witnessed work place stress and anxiety first hand. There is often a lack of support and understanding of what someone might be experiencing in their personal life and I want to help individuals in any personal or workplace situation feel that their thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences are validated and heard.

Having experienced the menopause transition over the past few years, it has become a passion of mine to specialise and support individuals in this area with the psychological challenges that may happen at the same time as the physical changes in the body. These can be issues such as low mood, depression, anxiety, sleep issues, low self esteem. These can very often be happening when major life events are taking place such as caring for elderly parents, children leaving home, retirement.

Counselling will help understand the root cause of what is troubling you, working at your own pace and time. By building a confidential and trusting connection with you in a non-judgemental, calm, quiet and safe space, I offer emotional support, exploring potentially overwhelming thoughts and feelings, helping you gain perspective, build self-awareness, and find your own answers and solutions. Counselling helps make sense of problems or difficulties in our lives and builds confidence and resilience for the future, enabling growth as an individual.

As a committed practitioner, I am constantly increasing my knowledge and continuing professional development with specialist training, most recently in anxiety and stress, grief and loss, shame and guilt and  specialist menopause counselling support.  I also offer Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), offering short-term support focusing on specific problems and working collaboratively with clients within a person-centred approach.

I work with adults (18 years and over)  and elders and can support them in many areas, including:

  • Anxiety, stress, depression and low moods
  • The menopause transition (peri menopause through to post menopause)
  • Emotional support
  • Bereavement
  • Grief, loss and sadness
  • Miscarriage
  • Survivors of abuse
  • Work-related stress and issues
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Carer support
  • Relationship breakdowns and issues (individuals)
  • Performance anxiety (focus on a specific problem e.g. stage fright, public speaking, exams etc)
